Dope test of candidate in election Rule on the question of binding

The High Court has given a ruling seeking to know why dope test should not be made mandatory by amending the election rules and the election law for those who will be candidates in the local government and national elections. The High Court bench comprising of Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice Sheikh Tahsin Ali gave this ruling on the preliminary hearing of a writ today.

Earlier, Supreme Court lawyer Israt Jahan Ani filed the writ seeking a direction to make dope test (special test for drug test) mandatory for those who will be candidates for local government elections and national elections. He himself heard the writ on behalf of the court.

Later, the lawyer Israt Jahan told reporters about the rule, "I am a tax payer." The person who will represent me must be drug free. There is this rule for government jobs, there is this rule for police. I am represented by a Member of Parliament (Member of Parliament), I am represented by the Chairman-Member of the area. If they are addicted to drugs, then they cannot represent me well. People's rights cannot be realized. That is why dope test should be made mandatory.

Israt Jahan also said, 'We want the person who will represent us, he will be a healthy, normal and sound minded person.... I mean the person who will stand as a representative of the people, he will be a healthy-sound minded person according to the constitution. Dope test is not mandatory for any candidate in current election rules. This test should be made mandatory; Who will stand as candidates and when to purchase nomination papers; There are many clauses in the nomination paper, including the dope test clause.
