UNO attacked while visiting filling station in Panchgarh

Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sabuj Kumar Basak was attacked while inspecting fuel supply at a filling station in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh. Ansar member Taibul Islam was injured at this time. He has been admitted to hospital.

This incident took place in front of Jannatul Mawa filling station in Vaulaganj area of ​​the upazila at around 12:30 noon on Saturday.

UNO Sabuj Kumar Basak told Prothom Alo on the phone, “There was supposed to be supply of fuel to three filling stations of the upazila from this morning. In the afternoon I went out to visit these filling stations. At that time, I got news that due to chaos at Jannatul Mawa filling station in Bhaulaganj, fuel oil distribution has not started yet. After going there, I saw a long line (queue) of motorcyclists. Some are claiming fuel without fuel card. Later I go to the end of the line and ask those who don’t have fuel cards to leave. At this time, some people left. Later, we fined him 500 taka for not having any documents including fuel card, driving license of a motorcyclist who was there. Within a few moments, a group of people from some distance came marching towards us and attacked us. At that time an Ansar member named Taibul Islam who was in charge of my security was injured. Some local people saved me and took me to a nearby house. Later the police came and rescued us. The injured Ansar member has been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.

I have even heard that the attackers took away the mobile phone of some of those who made the video at that time and deleted it. Necessary steps will be taken after discussing with the higher authorities in this incident.

Earlier I have come to know that some people attacked them and thrashed UNO Mr. After this incident, fuel oil distribution has been stopped at the filling station.
