Mastul Foundation, one of the most famous charity organizations in Bangladesh, has been working for more than a decade with the aim of supporting the helpless people. Setting a unique precedent of transparency and accountability, the organization shares regular audit reports every year. The humanitarian initiative started by visionary Kazi Riaz Rahman with a group of young people in 2012 has been established as a reliable charity organization helping millions of people. Currently, Mastul Foundation has become a trusted name for the underprivileged people of the country through various humanitarian activities including food, education, health, employment.
Mastul Foundation is a national level organization registered with Ministry of Social Welfare, Joint Stock Company and Bureau of NGO Affairs. As special SROs are certified by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), any donation or zakat given to this institution is treated as income tax concession for the donor. Apart from this, with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the institution is also conducting very sensitive humanitarian work like bathing and burial of bereaved bodies.

All the activities of the institution are conducted for the pleasure of Allah and they are carried out under the supervision of the Shariah Board. Zakat Conference and Donor Conference are organized every year, in which eminent persons of the country participate. The organization also implements various humanitarian programs according to the needs of donors. Mastul Foundation’s scope of services has now expanded beyond the borders of the country to the international level. Wherever there is a humanitarian crisis around the world, Mastul’s volunteers have reached out with support. During the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, Gaza and Sudan, the Mastul Foundation goes directly to provide emergency food aid, food and essential life-saving medicines. Apart from this, Mastul Foundation is delivering humanitarian services to different levels of the society through multifaceted projects.
The institution has reached its present position with the love and cooperation of the people of the country. Poor families are being made self-reliant through small businesses by distributing Zakat and Sadka money fairly. Mastul Foundation believes that permanent solutions are more effective than temporary aids. For that purpose, initiatives have been taken to make the poor families self-reliant with small business capital through the proper use of the Holy Zakat money. Those who are receiving Zakat today, through proper support, may be established in the society as Zakat donors with respect in the future – this is the aim of the organization.

To make this self-reliance process more organized and legal, Mastul Foundation is conducting Islamic finance activities under the approval of ‘MRA’ of the Ministry of Finance. They are ensuring economic emancipation of marginalized communities through fully Shariah compliant investments. Especially for the unemployed youth of the society by providing ‘Korje Hasana’ (interest free loans) creating employment and developing them as entrepreneurs.
This multifaceted initiative of Mastul Foundation is on the one hand protecting the sanctity of Zakat, on the other hand showing the way to live with dignity by freeing poor people from dependency through proper application of Islamic finance. They will continue this journey with the goal of pleasing Allah Almighty.
Mastul Foundation has its own guesthouse operations. They are conducting free food distribution activities in various areas including the capital every day. Especially in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar, they are providing food free of cost to the helpless, hungry and underprivileged people.
Dhaka’s Hazaribagh Barikhali area has its own school, madrasa, orphanage and old age home. At present, the construction of the 10-storey Mastul Islamic Shelter Home Complex is underway. Where under the same roof there will be modern mosques, madrasas, schools, orphanages and modern old age homes for lonely seniors, medical corners and training centers. A safe and modern old age home is being arranged here especially for the lonely and shelterless senior citizens of the society. This shelter home of Mastul Foundation is a safe haven for underprivileged and orphaned children to build a future. Here the children are not only given an education, but also an opportunity to grow up in a compassionate environment. Ensuring quality education, nutritious food and healthcare. Besides, they are being made good citizens by teaching religious and moral values.
Kazi Riaz Rahman, Founder and Executive Director of Mastul Foundation said, ‘Every work we do is for the pleasure of Almighty Allah. Islamic social economy or proper management of Zakat and Sadaqah is essential for equitable distribution of wealth and improvement of living standards of poor people.
