Tripura Chief Minister sends pineapple consignment to Bangladesh Prime Minister as diplomatic gesture

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has sent a gift of 620 Kew variety pineapples to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, marking a symbolic gesture of the enduring friendly relations between the two nations. The consignment, weighing 748 kilograms, arrived Wednesday afternoon at the Akhaura international immigration police checkpoint in Brahmanbaria.
The shipment, contained within 100 cartons, was transported via pickup truck and officially handed over by Tripura’s horticultural authorities to representatives from the Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong. The exchange took place at the zero line of the Akhaura land port, where officials from both sides gathered to commemorate the diplomatic gesture.
The Indian delegation was led by Apurba Roy, Secretary of the Tripura Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, alongside other regional officials and BSF representatives. Accepting the gift on behalf of the High Commission were Assistant Consular Officer Pankaj Jyoti Das and Sajjib Chakraborty, accompanied by local customs and immigration officials.
During the handover, officials emphasized that the gift serves to strengthen the bond and mutual goodwill between the two neighboring regions. Secretary Apurba Roy noted that the gesture follows a previous exchange in which the government of Bangladesh had gifted mangoes to Tripura, further underscoring the reciprocal nature of the diplomatic ties.
