Three thousand farmers are getting agricultural cards in Shibganj in the first phase

In Shibganj upazila of Bogra, more than three thousand farmers are getting lucky to get the agricultural or farmer card in the first phase. The Department of Agricultural Extension has already almost completed the verification work after going to the farmer’s house and collecting the information.

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman will officially inaugurate the Krishi Card distribution program on 1 Baisakh (April 14).

Shibganj upazila agriculture officer of Bogra and member of the committee formed by the Directorate of Agriculture Extension for the distribution of farmer cards nationwide Abdul Hannan gave this information on Sunday afternoon.

Sources in the Shibganj Upazila Agriculture Officer’s office of Bogra said that the Directorate of Agricultural Extension has collected the information of farmers in 11 blocks of 10 upazilas of eight divisions of the country as part of pre-piloting activities. Before this, the information of the selected farmers will be verified. Under the pre-piloting program, initially, information on giving cards to farmers of Uthli block of Shibganj union of Shibganj upazila of Bogra district of Rajshahi division has been collected.

There is land in this block, about one thousand hectares. There are families, 2690. So far information of 3 thousand 516 farmers has been collected. Bank accounts of 3 thousand 247 people have been opened. Crosschecking of these is going on. This number of farmers is expected to get agriculture card.

Earlier on March 16, at the inauguration ceremony of the Bilhamla canal re-excavation program in Buriganj Bazar area of ​​Shibganj, Bogra, the Minister of State for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam said that the agricultural card distribution program will be started from next Pahela Boishakh. In the first phase, this card will be given to more than three thousand farmers of Shibganj upazila. In view of this, the Directorate of Agricultural Extension started data collection activities for farmer cards in Shibganj upazila from March 8. Which is currently in final stages.

Under this card, every farmer will get agricultural inputs at fair prices, government subsidies and incentives along with various advices. In addition to these, the opportunity to use agricultural machinery at affordable prices, irrigation facilities at fair prices, installment loans on easy terms, agricultural insurance facilities, opportunities to sell agricultural products at fair prices, agricultural training, weather and market information through digital platforms and advice on crop disease control will be provided under this farmer card.

Abdul Hannan, Shibganj Upazila Agriculture Officer of Bogra and member of the committee formed by the Department of Agricultural Extension for the distribution of farmer cards nationwide, said that pre-piloting activities are currently underway. After April 14, piloting activities will be conducted in 15 upazilas across the country. Then there will be piloting in 100 upazilas. Agriculture card distribution program will be implemented across the country in the next financial year.

He also said that Prime Minister Tarek Rahman will inaugurate the agricultural card distribution program at Tangail Sadar next Pahela Baisakh. 10 upazilas of the country including Shivganj of Bogra will be connected with that event. The program will be organized at Uthli High School ground in Shibganj, Bogra around 11:00 that day.

Minister of Education Anam Ehsanul Haque Milon, Minister of Food and State Minister of Public Administration Md. Abdul Bari, Deputy Commissioner of Bogra Taufiqur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, officials of various government departments and politicians will be present.

The agriculture official also said that the initiator of card distribution will be decided on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s intention.
