Three killed, two injured in three-motorcycle collision in Habiganj

A collision involving three motorcycles in Habiganj’s Ajmiriganj upazila left three people dead and two others critically injured on Thursday evening. The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. near the Jolshukha Bridge in the Jolshukha Union.
The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Antor, son of Chondon from Paharpur village in Ajmiriganj, and Tanvir and Abidul Laskar, both from the Amirkhan-i Mohalla area of Baniachong upazila. The two injured individuals, identified as 35-year-old Sahidul Islam Bachchu and 27-year-old Md. Mizan Mia, were reportedly employed by a non-governmental organization at the time of the crash.
Local authorities and witnesses reported that construction work is currently underway on the Ajmiriganj-Shalla regional highway, which may have been a contributing factor to the incident. Emergency responders transported four injured individuals to the Habiganj District Sadar Hospital, where medical staff declared two of them dead upon arrival. The remaining two survivors were transferred to Sylhet M.A.G. Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Ajmiriganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Akbar Hossain confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the Habiganj morgue for post-mortem examinations.
