Three killed in separate road accidents in Narsingdi

Two separate road accidents in Narsingdi have claimed three lives over the past 24 hours, local authorities confirmed on Saturday.
In the most recent incident, a head-on collision between a private car and a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Shibpur’s Chokrodha Union left a teenager and a child dead. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on the Itakhola-Monohardi regional road near Monortek. According to witnesses, the auto-rickshaw was transporting passengers toward the Shibpur administrative center when it collided with a car traveling in the opposite direction.
The impact threw the occupants onto the road, resulting in severe head and bodily trauma. Medical personnel at the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex declared 12-year-old passenger Junaid Mia dead upon arrival. The driver, 17-year-old Rubel Sheikh, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to a hospital in Dhaka for emergency care. Police have seized the private car involved, and legal proceedings against the driver are underway.
This tragedy follows a fatal accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Friday evening. A 35-year-old motorcyclist, Kusum Ali, was killed near the Islam CNG pump in Madhabdi when his vehicle was struck by a passenger bus operated by Mamun Paribahan. The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the victim dead on the highway.
Ita-khola Highway Police recovered the body and subsequently handed it over to the victim’s family following a post-mortem examination. A formal case has been filed in connection with the hit-and-run, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash.
