Three killed in Dhaka-Aricha highway bus-motorcycle collision

Three people were killed in a collision involving two motorcycles and a bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in the Islampur area of Dhamrai, Dhaka, on Saturday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. when a chain-reaction crash left the victims with fatal injuries.
According to local highway police and Dhamrai station officials, the incident was triggered when a bus broke down on the Aricha-bound lane. The obstruction forced a private car and a following covered van to slow down abruptly. As the motorcyclists behind the vehicles attempted to reduce their speed, a passenger bus approaching from the rear failed to control its velocity, slamming into the motorcycles and dragging them along the road.

The victims were identified as 25-year-old Abash Saha, an honors student at Manikganj’s Government Debendra College, 18-year-old Sujoy Saha, an HSC candidate, and 30-year-old Syed Naimul Haque, a private sector employee. Abash and Sujoy were traveling on the same motorcycle at the time of the collision, while Naimul Haque was riding the second bike.
Abash and Sujoy were rushed to the Dhamrai 50-bed Upazila Health Complex, where emergency physician Seemin Saiyara confirmed they were dead upon arrival. Both sustained severe trauma to multiple parts of their bodies.

Syed Naimul Haque was transported to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar in critical condition. Hospital in-charge Md. Yusuf stated that Haque was admitted to the intensive care unit, but he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Saugatul Alam, officer-in-charge of the Savar Highway Police Station, confirmed that the authorities are in the process of taking necessary legal action regarding the incident.
