Play of light and shadow in a dark room. A creator weaves a web of mystery on the screen and the audience gets trapped in that web and sometimes gets amazed, sometimes drowns in strange fascination.

Is art just entertainment, or does it silently weave a seed of beauty inside people?

In this spirit, Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha has organized the prize distribution and star chat of the web series ‘Chakra-2’ review competition.

At the beginning of this unique program held in the meeting room of the Prothom Alo office in the capital’s Caravan Bazaar last Monday evening, Prothom Alo’s managing editor and playwright Anisul Haque spoke about the philosophy of the industry. He said, ‘The work of art is to create beauty and the usefulness of art is there. If you want to be a good artist, you must have maximum effort. Whatever you want to be, the effort must be maximum to reach that place. Vicky Zaheed did just that. As a result of his efforts, “Chakra-2” has been appreciated.

The star chat was attended by Vicky Zaheed, the producer of ‘Chakra-2’ and the artists involved in the production including Tausif Mahbub, Moushumi Mau, Rumki, Shubhra, who played the central role of the series. Various questions were asked to them about the web series by the members of the National Board of Directors of Bandhu Sabha, members of different Bandhu Sabhas of Dhaka Metropolitan and Dhaka. The stars also gave lively answers to all those questions.

“Cycle-2” Dr. Tausif Mahbub, who played the role of Humayun, shared his experience and said, “Those who want to do Vicky Zaheed’s work are mentally very strong. After watching Vicky Zaheed’s content, I started acting—I started praying.’

On the other hand, Moushumi Mou, who plays the role of ‘Jenny’, has experienced a difficult shooting experience. He said, ‘Very cold, shooting at four o’clock in the night. The whole body is bloody. I am freezing in winter.’ Still, as an artist, he sees this work as a different experience, where the satisfaction of creation is hidden within the pain.

Appreciating the audience’s response and organization, producer Vicky Zaheed said, “Organizing such a competition motivates us a lot. Because, those who review here are all enlightened viewers. They see domestic and foreign content and also see our work. As a result, their opinion plays a very important role for us.

Friends of Bandhu Sabha regularly watch Bengali films, are interested in watching them and want to promote Bengali films more and more, President of Bandhu Sabha National Board of Directors Zafar Sadiq said, ‘Last Eid we watched the film “Saba” and discussed about it. It is in that continuity that we have this arrangement with “Chakra-2”.

The whole atmosphere is filled with questions, stories and laughter in star chat. Some say their likes, some express personal feelings. There were discussions about acting, production, script and story writing.

At the end of the program, the guests presented the prizes to the winners of the review competition. The winners are Israt Jahan working in a private institution in Dhaka, Hasan Bin Taslim a student of Daffodil International University and Nahid Hossain of Bhairab. However, the real achievement of this event is beyond the award—a perfect meeting of art, artist and audience.
