The process of so-called merit verification in rote-based testing is confusing. Every child has his own potential. This potential is not always identified and developed through textbook-centric education and pass-fail or good results. One cannot become a person with human qualities if one does not connect with his surroundings, the people there and the nature. With this aim, the creative organization ‘Sahyog’ awarded two students of Thakurgaon’s RK State High School with ‘Sahyog Motivation Scholarship’. The founders of the organization said this.

This special scholarship was awarded to Arabi Akhter, a student of class VI and Sonia Akhtar of class IX of RK State High School, Thakurgaon. These two students were selected through an exceptional day-long event in the school premises last Sunday. At the end of the ceremony, the headmaster of the school handed over the certificate of scholarship, books and the amount of the scholarship to the winners. Zahidul Islam and Dipti Dutta, Assistant Professor of Faculty of Arts, Dhaka University, on behalf of the collaboration.

Three members of the association Deepti Dutta, poet and artist Tofail Ahmed Padma and writer and journalist Fazlul Kabir conducted various activities throughout the day to provide scholarships. Artist and art teacher Ashraful Alam cooperated locally in this arrangement and the headmaster of the school provided overall cooperation. Zahidul Islam.

On Sunday morning, the day-long ‘Tell Your Story’ program started from the school assembly. A total of 47 students of sixth and ninth classes participated in it. A mural was created with pictures written and drawn by the participating students. Six members of the school’s class 10 drama troupe volunteered throughout the day to join the co-operation representatives.

It is informed by the support, it is not always possible to check the latent potential of the child with the pass-fail of the textbook. So they selected these two by working directly with the students throughout the day. But this scholarship is not just for one time. The two selected students will have to do certain tasks in their respective regions, adjacent to people and nature. In return for those works they will get this incentive scholarship.
