The Prime Minister announced the next year as ‘Nazrul Barsha’

Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has declared Nazrul Year from May 25, 2026 to May 25, 2027. He made this announcement after inaugurating national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 127th birth anniversary celebrations at Trishal in Mymensingh on Saturday evening after a cultural programme.
Tariq Rahman said, ‘Today when I was watching the program here, I thought about one thing and then I had a little talk with the minister, with the secretary, with the advisor. I would like to propose that 25th is the 127th birth anniversary of poet Nazrul Islam. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, we would like to declare Nazrul Year from 25th May 2026 to 25th May 2027.

He further said, ‘Not only do I want to announce, I have told them that we want to present Kazi Nazrul Islam to the new generation through discussion. That’s why I said that you should try to have Nazrul event or similar event in every district of Bangladesh. So that the new generation can understand that rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is our national poet. So that the new generation can get to know the poet better, can know, can have an idea about the poet.
