The formal charge sheet was ordered against 12 accused including Shamim Osman on May 5
In the case of crimes against humanity committed in Narayanganj during the July uprising, 12 accused, including former member of parliament Shamim Osman, have been acquitted. The lawyers of the accused made this request in the International Criminal Tribunal-1 on Thursday. Later, the tribunal fixed May 5 as the date for the formal complaint in this case.
Shamim Osman’s family members and relatives are among the 12 accused in this case. Among them are Ayan Osman, Ajmeri Osman, Md. Minhaj Uddin Ahmed and Tanveer Ahmed.

Prosecutor Gazi Monawar Hussain Tamim spoke in the tribunal after the plea of acquittal of the accused.
Prosecutor Gazi Monawar said the defense lawyers referred to the July mass uprising as a ‘violent uprising’ and an ‘act of violence’ in their plea for immunity. He questioned how they got the courage to speak like that.

The prosecutor told the RGO to the tribunal that the application should not be placed on record, taking serious objection to these wordings.
