The Director General of the Islamic Foundation is Mufti Muhibbullah Hill Baki

National Mosque Baitul Mukarram Pesh Imam Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullah Hil Baki has been appointed as Director General of Islamic Foundation. This information was informed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday.

According to the notification, Muhibbullah Hill Baki has been appointed on contractual basis for one year from the date of joining in accordance with Section 5(a)(1) and (2) of the Islamic Foundations Act, 1975. During this period he has to sever his working relationship with any other profession, business or public-private organization.

This is the first time in the administrative history of the country that the government has appointed a professional scholar and imam of the mosque to a high position in the state administration. He has been made Director General of Islamic Foundation in the rank of Secretary (Grade-1). Meanwhile he was working as a fourth grade officer in Govt.

Mufti Muhibbullah Hill Baki is a distinguished scholar, Islamic researcher and educated in multidimensional learning. He was educated in all three schools of education – Qaumi, Aliya and Modern. During his academic career, he studied at Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Hathazari, Chittagong, Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, India and the Arabic department of Dhaka University. He obtained first class in Dawarae Hadith in Qawmi stream, Kamil in Aliya stream and Post Graduation at university level. He got the first rank in the first class in his post graduation from the Arabic Department of Dhaka University.

During his career, he served as Imam at Andarqilla Shahi Jame Mosque and Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Chittagong. At the same time, he served as Khatib in various important mosques of the country. He last served as Secretary General of Central Shariah Council for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh. Apart from this, he has also served as chairman and member of Shariah Board of various banks and financial institutions.
