The police recovered the bullet-ridden body of a youth named Rimon Mia (20) in Bancharampur upazila of Brahmanbaria. The body of the young man was recovered from a road in Ulukandi area of ​​Pahariakandi union of the upazila on Monday afternoon.

The deceased Rimon is the son of Forkan Mia of New Thollakandi village of Barikandi union of Nabinagar upazila.

According to local people and police sources, local people found the body of a young man with gunshot wounds on the Sheikh Hasina College Road in Ulukandi area of ​​Pahariakandi Union of the upazila around 2.30 am on Monday. They informed the police of Bancharampur police station. Later the police recovered the body. There were bullet marks on the body above the nose.

At first, the police could not confirm the identity of the deceased youth. Later, when the incident of the recovery of the body spread on social media, cousin sister-in-law Zainal Abedin came to the scene after seeing the picture. He identified the body. He told the police that the deceased’s name is Rimon and he is a resident of New Thollakandi village of Barikandi Union of Nabinagar Upazila. Forkan is Mia’s son.

Zainal Abedin told reporters that a few days ago Rimon had a fight with some people in Barikandi area. Since then, Rimon stayed at his sister’s house in Narsingdi. He could not be traced since Monday morning. His wife informed him after seeing a picture of a dead body on Facebook. He came to the spot and identified the body. He could not say who killed him.

Bancharampur police inspector Abu Said told Prothom Alo over the phone, “It is initially believed that the young man was shot dead. He has a gunshot wound on his nose. A bullet casing was recovered from the spot. The body was sent to Brahmanbaria General Hospital morgue for post-mortem in the evening. The matter is being seriously investigated.
