Ten Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal members injured in Satkhira attack following phone call dispute

Ten leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), including district vice president Manjurul Alam, also known as Bappi, were injured in an attack in the Ghona area of Satkhira Sadar Upazila on Saturday night. The assault, which occurred around 9:30 p.m., is reportedly linked to a leaked telephone conversation.
The injured, including Manjurul Alam, his brother Rajib Hossain, and JCD activists Abdur Rakib, Bokul Haider, Zahid Hasan, Abdus Salam, Tohidul Hossain, and Mahmudul Hasan, were admitted to the Satkhira Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Manjurul Alam alleged that the conflict began after his group obtained a telephone recording of Nazmul Hasan, a leader of the outlawed Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the Ghona area. Alam claimed the recording contained derogatory remarks directed at a JCD leader and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Zahid Hossain, the Ghona Union president of the JCD, reportedly went to confront Nazmul Hasan regarding the recording but was detained. When Alam arrived at the scene with other party members to secure his release, they were attacked by local activists affiliated with the outlawed Awami League and the BCL using bamboo sticks and iron rods.
Alam identified the attackers as a group led by Nazmul Hasan and his father, known locally as Laltu Member.
Abu Raihan, president of the district unit of the JCD, condemned the violence and alleged that the BCL members carried out the assault under the protection of the local Jamaat-e-Islami. He has formally demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack.
Masudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, confirmed that law enforcement officials visited the site following the incident. He stated that two individuals have been detained in connection with the attack, adding that police remain on high alert to maintain order in the area.
