Teenager missing after disappearing in Kaptai Lake during swim

A 17-year-old boy went missing on Saturday after disappearing into the waters of Kaptai Lake in Rangamati’s Balukhali Union. The teenager, identified as Nabadeep Barua from the Tetultala area of Khagrachhari, vanished while swimming near the local union parishad office around noon.
According to Balukhali Union Parishad Chairman Amar Kumar Chakma, the incident occurred while Nabadeep was out on a recreational excursion with a group of seven or eight friends. The group had traveled to the lake by motorized boat and decided to swim, at which point Nabadeep submerged and failed to resurface.

Local residents immediately launched a search effort upon realizing the boy had disappeared, but were unable to locate him. Following the report, a specialized diving unit from the Rangamati Fire Service was dispatched to the site to conduct a formal search operation.
As of 2:15 p.m., rescue crews were still working at the scene. Despite ongoing efforts by the divers, the teenager remains missing.
