Tarek Reza of NCP taken into custody to provide security, arrested due to case: Police

NCP leader Tarek Reza was taken into security custody, later arrested due to a case against him. Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mahfuz Hossain told reporters in front of Jhenaidah Sadar police station at around 10 pm on Sunday. He also claimed that Yuva Shakti leader Ayan Rahman was arrested in accordance with the law.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mahfuz Hossain said that central NCP leader Tarek Reza is accused in the Chhatra Dal case. Even after that he came out in public and was preparing for the press conference. Fearing an unpleasant situation there again, he was taken into police custody. Since he is the accused in the case and has not taken bail from the court, he has been legally arrested and sent to the court.

Apart from this, the allegation raised by the Central Youth Shakti that Ayan Rahman has gone missing in the 22 May incident is not correct. The District Detective Police (DB) arrested him from Jessore on Saturday night. His family was informed after his arrest. After the arrest, according to the law, he was sent to the court before 24 hours passed on Sunday around 4 pm.

Police officer Mahfuz Hossain said that the OC of Sadar police station Tarek Reza was repeatedly forbidden to go to the press conference over the phone and he went to attend the press conference in violation of the ban. He was told that the police needs to prepare for security, time should be given. But he didn’t listen. In this incident, there was a new fear, so he was taken into police custody. He was sent to court at night.

However, when asked whether any accused has been arrested in the NCP case, Mahfuz Hossain said, “Six members of the student body are on bail.” An NCP member is also on bail. But we follow go slow policy in such cases. The police had no intention of arresting Tarek Reza. He was brought by the police for his safety.
