Six-year-old boy drowns in waterlogged field in Chittagong’s Lohagara

A six-year-old boy drowned in a waterlogged field in the Lohagara upazila of Chattogram on Saturday afternoon, marking a tragic end to what began as a routine day of play.
The victim, identified as Md. Aksan, was a second-grade student at the Suksari Rahmania Adarsha Dakhil Madrasa and the son of Morshed Hossain, a local teacher and mosque imam. The incident occurred in the Abdur Rauf Bari area of Amirabad Union around 1:30 p.m.

According to local accounts, Aksan had been playing football in a field near his home with four friends earlier in the day. While the ground contained only shallow, ankle-deep water, the situation turned fatal after his playmates departed for their homes around 1:00 p.m., leaving the boy to continue playing alone.
Approximately thirty minutes later, a passerby discovered the child lying face-down in the water and raised an alarm. Local residents rushed the boy to a private hospital at the upazila headquarters, where attending physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Md. Abdullah, officer-in-charge of the Lohagara Police Station, confirmed that authorities dispatched officers to the scene following the report. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the drowning, and further legal action will follow pending the findings.
