Six Arrested Following Alleged Gang Rape and Robbery in Cox’s Bazar

Police in Cox’s Bazar have arrested six suspects following a violent home invasion in the newly formed Matamuhuri upazila, where a woman and her teenage daughter were reportedly subjected to gang rape. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning when a group of eight to ten assailants breached the family home by cutting through a window grille.

According to local reports and police, the victims were alone in the house at the time of the attack, as the woman’s husband was away working in Chittagong. The attackers ransacked the home, stealing jewelry and cash before assaulting the mother and her 15-year-old daughter. The woman’s seven-year-old daughter was also present during the ordeal.

Family members arrived at the scene shortly after the perpetrators fled and immediately transported the victims to the Chakaria Upazila Health Complex. They were later transferred to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for further medical treatment. The family has publicly demanded the swiftest possible justice, calling for the maximum penalty for those responsible for the assault.

Chakaria Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed that a series of dawn raids resulted in the apprehension of six local men: Rezaul Karim, Tofazzal Hossain, Kefayet Hossain, Mohammad Tanjid, Mehedi Hasan, and Mohammad Tarek.
