Shopkeeper killed in road accident in Rajshahi, crowd set fire to two dump trucks

A man named Akram was crossing the road after having breakfast. At that time, a truck carrying sand hit him and dragged him far away. He died on the spot. Seeing the incident, the local crowd immediately erupted. Blocked the road and set fire to two trucks. This incident happened on Tuesday morning in front of Puthiya cat cremation shrine in Rajshahi on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway.

Akram’s house is in Sarda Thanapara area of ​​Rajshahi. Tailor by profession. His age is approximately 60 years. He has a tailor’s shop in the area of ​​Katidah Mazaar in Puthiya. His body was kept near the scene.

Several witnesses including Mizanur Rahman, a local resident, said that Akram was crossing the road after having breakfast at a food shop around seven in the morning. At that time, two dump trucks carrying sand were going to Natore from Puthiabazar. Akram was dragged by a truck. He died on the spot. At that time, the angry crowd set fire to the two trucks. The people who were recording the video of the incident took away their mobile phones and vandalized them and burnt them in the fire of the truck. At this time, there was a traffic jam on both sides of the highway.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Puthia police station Faridul Islam came to the spot after receiving the news. The angry mob attacked the police at first. Later, the local residents demanded to the OC that no dump trucks should be allowed to run in the area during the day. Speed ​​breakers should be installed on the roads. The situation calmed down a bit when the OC assured to accept these demands.
