Relative sought by police following attempted rape of child in Rajbari

Police in Rajbari have launched an investigation into an attempted rape case involving a seven-year-old girl, following a formal complaint filed late Tuesday night. The child’s mother initiated legal action under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at the Rajbari Sadar Police Station, naming a relative of the family as the primary suspect.
According to the mother’s statement to the police, the incident occurred on the afternoon of the day before Eid. While she was working in the yard, the suspect allegedly entered the family home, cornered the minor, and attempted to assault her. The assault was interrupted when the girl’s cries for help drew her mother’s attention, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
The mother told authorities that she initially sought to keep the incident private due to pressure from her husband and other family members. However, she decided to report the matter to the police after observing a steady decline in her daughter’s physical health and wellbeing in the days following the trauma.
Officer-in-Charge of Rajbari Sadar Police Station, Uttam Kumar Ghosh, confirmed that a case has been registered. The suspect, a resident of Kalukhali upazila who had been living at his in-laws’ home in Sadar upazila, remains at large. Police have stated that an investigation is underway and efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
