Proscribed Chhatra League activists stage flash protests in Chittagong

Members of the banned student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) staged flash protests in the port city of Chattogram on Monday, defying legal restrictions and triggering a police investigation into the demonstrations.
Video footage circulating on social media shows a group of activists from the organization’s Omar Gani MES College chapter marching through the GEC intersection area. Witnesses reported that more than 100 participants took part in the procession, which reportedly originated near the city’s Gate No. 2 area. Throughout the march, the group chanted slogans praising former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the organization, while carrying banners identifying their affiliation with the college branch.

Parallel reports confirm that a similar demonstration occurred in the Anwara upazila of the district earlier the same morning. A 90-second video of the protest, which took place near the Chatari Choumuhani area on the PAB road, has also been widely shared across digital platforms.
Local law enforcement authorities arrived at the GEC intersection following reports of the incident, but found the area already cleared of protesters. Jahedul Islam, officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Police Station, stated that authorities are currently reviewing the video evidence to identify those involved. He confirmed that police are working to track down the participants and intend to take legal action against the organizers.
