President appoints Justice Md Habibul Gani to Appellate Division

President Mohammed Shahabuddin has appointed High Court Division Justice Md. Habibul Gani as a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a formal notification regarding the appointment on Thursday.
The appointment, made under Article 95(1) of the Constitution, will take effect from the date Justice Gani takes his oath of office. With this elevation, the total number of judges in the Appellate Division now stands at five.
According to Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md. Shafiqul Islam, the Chief Justice will administer the oath of office to Justice Gani. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. this Sunday at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Justice Gani began his judicial career on April 18, 2010, when he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court Division. He was subsequently confirmed as a permanent judge of the High Court Division on April 15, 2012.
An alumnus of the University of Chittagong, where he earned MSS and LLB degrees, Justice Gani was enrolled as an advocate in the District Court on April 3, 1989. He was later enrolled to practice in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on April 11, 1992.
