Police Launch Manhunt After Gang Rape and Robbery in Mymensingh

Police in Gafargaon, Mymensingh, have launched a manhunt following a brutal gang rape incident that occurred early Wednesday morning. A group of seven to eight armed men reportedly stormed a residence in a remote village, terrorizing a young couple before committing the assault.
According to the victim’s family, the suspects forcibly entered the home around 1:00 a.m. by breaking down the door. The assailants held the woman’s husband at knifepoint, binding his hands, feet, and eyes before dragging the 20-year-old victim to a nearby secluded area. The woman was subjected to a gang rape that lasted for approximately two hours.

Following the assault, the perpetrators returned the victim to her mother’s home. The group held both the victim and her mother hostage while they looted the residence, escaping with 30,000 taka in cash and various gold ornaments. The victim’s mother stated that she was able to identify three to four of the attackers, noting that the threat of violence had prevented them from calling for help during the ordeal.
Officer-in-Charge of Pagla Police Station, Md. Aminul Islam, confirmed that the victim is currently at the station to file a formal written complaint. Authorities are preparing to transport her to a hospital for medical examination and care.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attackers were neighbors of the victim. Police suspect the horrific crime may be rooted in a long-standing dispute over land ownership. Law enforcement officials have initiated a series of raids to apprehend the identified suspects and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
