Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hussain Fakir said, “If the police take money from drug spots, take money to file GD-cases at the police station – people should give information against that police.” If I get the information, I will dismiss that policeman from his job.

IGP Ali Hossain Fakir said this in the speech of the chief guest at the exchange meeting organized at Shajahanpur police station complex in Bogra on Sunday evening.

Referring to the 1 percent criminals of the total population in the country, the IGP said in the exchange meeting that if all the peace-loving people shun this 1 percent criminals, they will not be able to survive in the society. People are the source of all power. All good works can be implemented with the support of the people.

Urging the police to cooperate with information against drug dealers, the IGP said, “The health of the future generation should be fixed to lead the future, to develop them as worthy citizens.” But drugs are ruining that generation. If someone is dealing in drugs 10 kilometers away from the police station, many times it is not possible for the police to know about it.

IGP Ali Hussain Fakir also said that the Crime Prevention Unit (CID) of the police is working to collect information on whether the drug dealers are doing money laundering or not, whether there is any other business or not, along with making a list of drug dealers in each district.

IGP Ali Hossain Fakir said in reply to the questions of the journalists after the discussion meeting that the number one agenda of the election of the BNP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman was the development of law and order. The police is working to create a safe environment for the development of that law and order. The police force has been separated from the people for 17 long years due to injustices with the people. Community policing activities have been started from Bogra to restore the confidence of the people. Community policing activities will be spread across the country in phases.

The IGP said, ‘Trust and trust must be built between the police and the people. There are 2 lakh 15 thousand police for 20 crore people. There is 1 policeman for every 900 people. Is it possible for 1 policeman to serve 900 people? For this, community policing activities should be strengthened. Community policing has been used for political purposes in the past. People are harassed. They do not want such a community police. People want community policing.

Referring to the fact that 600 police vehicles were burnt in the 2024 mass uprising, IGP Ali Hossain Fakir said, ‘People may have anger and outrage against the police; But the police did not waste the wealth of the country. But many resources of the police have been wasted. Police capacity has decreased by 20 percent. 1000 new vehicles are needed to start the police operation in full swing. We have to buy new cars for the police in stages.

Earlier, the IGP visited Shajahanpur police station and planted a cinnamon tree in the police station premises. Rajshahi Range DIG Mohammad Shahjahan, Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Rajshahi RRF Commandant Deen Mohammad, Armed Police Battalion Captain Shaheed Abu Sarwar, Bogura Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, Shajahanpur Police Station OC Ashiq Iqbal and others were present.
