Ousted Activist Handed Post in Mymensingh Student Wing Following Viral Outcry

Ahsan Ullah, a student activist who gained local notoriety after a tearful social media broadcast over his exclusion from the Mymensingh South District Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) committee, has been appointed as an assistant organizing secretary in a newly expanded roster.
The appointment was confirmed in a press release signed by central JCD President Rakibul Islam and General Secretary Nasir Uddin. While the statement was issued on Thursday, it was made public via social media on Friday. Ullah, a third-year undergraduate student at Shahid Smriti Government College in Muktagachha and the son of Abdul Hai from Bhabkhali Union, is among the 55 new members added to the district leadership.
The appointment follows a public display of frustration on May 2, when Ullah took to Facebook Live to air grievances after being left off the initial 298-member committee, which is led by President Azizul Hakim Aziz and General Secretary Rakib Hossain. His emotional response to the oversight sparked significant discussion within local political circles.
Reflecting on his new position, Ullah credited his resurgence to the guidance of Mymensingh City Corporation Administrator Rukunuzzaman Rokon, whom he describes as a mentor. He noted that Rokon’s encouragement to persevere after a political setback was pivotal in his decision to remain active within the organization.
District President Azizul Hakim Aziz stated that the expanded committee was formed to address the concerns of grassroots activists who had been overlooked during the initial selection process. He expressed confidence that the addition of these 55 members would strengthen the organization’s operational capacity and momentum throughout the district.
