Natore Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Leader Issued Show Cause Notice After Illegally Disrupting Football Tournament

The Natore district branch of Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has issued a show-cause notice to Maruf Ali, the joint convener of the organization’s Lalpur Upazila unit, following allegations that he illegally invoked Section 144 to disrupt a local football tournament.
The disciplinary action was initiated on Sunday afternoon under the directives of District JCD President Kamrul Islam and General Secretary Maruf Islam. The formal notice was dispatched by Assistant Office Secretary K.F. Kamrul Islam.
The controversy centers on a final football match scheduled for last Friday at Keshobpur School ground in Lalpur. According to reports, Maruf Ali had expressed an interest in attending the prize-giving ceremony as a guest. However, organizers opted to invite local village elders to preside over the event in accordance with tradition. Angered by the exclusion, Ali reportedly hired a microphone system on Friday morning and falsely announced that Section 144 had been imposed on the venue, effectively forcing the local community to cancel both the match and the subsequent ceremony.
Local residents and authorities later confirmed that neither the Upazila Nirbahi Officer nor any executive magistrate had issued such an order, revealing that the announcement was a maneuver orchestrated by Ali. After the incident gained traction on social media, the district leadership intervened to address the breach of organizational discipline.
In the notice, the district leadership has demanded that Ali appear at the district Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) office to provide a formal explanation for his actions. The organization has stipulated that a written response regarding why disciplinary measures should not be taken against him must be submitted by Monday.
When contacted regarding the allegations, Maruf Ali declined to comment, stating that he would provide his explanation exclusively to the organization’s leadership. K.F. Kamrul Islam confirmed the issuance of the notice, emphasizing that Ali’s conduct constituted a severe violation of organizational standards.
