National platform of inspiration ‘GPA-5 Kriti Samvardhana’

The ‘GPA-5 Acknowledgment Award Ceremony’ in SSC has now become a national platform to inspire millions of students in the country. This initiative has also received great recognition in the international arena. Prothom Alo celebrated the global respect and recognition with the participants. On this occasion, a home program was organized at Prothom Alo office in Karwar Bazar of the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Prothom Alo welcomes meritorious students with GPA-5. For this event, Prothom Alo received the third prize from the International News Media Association (INMA) this year in the category of ‘Best Use of an Event to Build a News Brand’. Inma, an organization composed of more than 1,000 media from 102 countries, announced the award on May 7 in Berlin, Germany. In addition to this award, Prothom Alo has received two other honorable recognitions in Inmar’s ‘Global Media Awards 2026’.

Digital education platform ‘Sikho’ has been the main sponsor with Prothom Alo for four years in the felicitation ceremony of meritorious students who have secured GPA-5 in SSC. This event was held in 64 districts of the country last year. Around one lakh students participated in the ‘Sikho-Prothom Alo GPA-5 achievement reception’.
Sikho’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ishmam Ahmed Chowdhury said at a domestic event organized at Prothom Alo office, the partnership started in 2022, when Sikho was a relatively new company. At that time Prothom Alo took Shikho as a partner, which became a great inspiration for Shikho. This event of felicitating meritorious students across the country is now internationally recognized. It is glory for all. Shikho’s path will continue with Prothom Alo.

Bikash, a mobile financial service provider, is another participant in organizing the reception. The chief marketing officer of this institution, Mir Nawabat Ali, recalled his childhood and said at the event, there was no such culture of celebrating good results nationally. It is a wonderful initiative to felicitate meritorious students.
On the occasion, Senior Deputy General Manager of Concord Group, Ujjal Kumar Basak said, “Just like the Prothom-alo comes with everything that is good, Concord Group also tries to be with good deeds.” Since the initiative has received international recognition, there will be efforts to do better in the future.
Meghna Group Chief Marketing Officer Kazi Md. Mohiuddin said, due to being associated with this initiative, he receives calls from familiar parents every year. They requested that the registration of children should be done properly in the event. This proves how much the event has become popular with students and parents.
Electromart Limited Deputy Managing Director Nurul Afsar said that they have been with this initiative of Prothom Alo for four years. The practice of trying to do something new next year from the experience of the previous year has taught a lot.
On receiving the international award, the Principal Advisor of Presidency University, Prof. Md. Anwarul Kabir said, ‘It is like a golden ring in a golden hand. The reputation of Prothom Alo, our trust in the newspaper and its position as the leading newspaper of the country, this is the burning proof of it.
‘The country will reach a better place’
Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman said on the occasion, ‘From the beginning, we did not think of Prothom Alo as just a newspaper. I have thought about many things beyond the news for the welfare of the society. We will just say, just give wisdom, give knowledge, do not do anything ourselves? We do such programs from this sense of responsibility.
Matiur Rahman said that the country will reach a better place one day if the youth are associated with good initiatives and positive work.
Anisul Haque, managing editor of Prothom Alo said, Bangladesh will develop beautifully if the students grow up well. Bangladesh will be enlightened if the youth are enlightened.
Sumna Sharmin, associate editor of Prothom Alo, said that in this kind of event, there is joy at the same time, and the future is being talked about at the same time. The way the students who participated in the last event asked questions, wanted to know even in the scorching heat, it is clear that they have chosen this event as a platform to prepare for the future.
Munir Hasan, consultant of Prothom Alo said, “100,000 students are felicitated. It is not known whether any country does such a program or not.”

It was informed in the event, that this year, those who will get GPA-5 in SSC and equivalent exams, will also organize a ‘Sikho-Prothom Alo GPA-5 award ceremony’. That preparation will begin in a few days.
