Police in Narsingdi have arrested a 26-year-old man following the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old textile mill worker in Madhabdi. The victim’s father filed a formal case on Thursday afternoon, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt for a second suspect who remains at large.

According to the case filing, the incident occurred on Wednesday night as the teenager was returning home from her shift. One of the suspects, identified as 30-year-old Mosharraf Mia, reportedly intercepted the girl near her residence and lured her to a nearby house under the pretense of wanting to speak with her. Once inside the residence of the second suspect, 26-year-old Md. Mahabub, both men allegedly forced themselves upon the girl.

The suspects reportedly filmed the assault and threatened to circulate the footage on social media if the victim disclosed the incident to anyone. They further coerced the teenager into handing over 2,000 taka in exchange for the return of her mobile phone, which they had seized during the ordeal.

Family members and local residents eventually intervened after the girl disclosed the encounter. They managed to apprehend Mahabub at the scene, though Mosharraf managed to escape. Mahabub was handed over to the police late Wednesday night.
