“Murder, encroachment, extortion—this trend has been going on in Mohammadpur for more than four decades,” said an old resident of Mohammadpur. He further said that as time has passed, the nature of crime has changed. New criminal gangs have been formed. Crime and gang activity are still there and more than ever. According to DMP data, half a dozen criminal gangs are now active in Mohammadpur. 17 of them are major criminal gangs. Each team consists of 15-20 criminals.
