A nine-year-old student was found dead in a jute field near her home in Taraganj, Rangpur, on Saturday, one day after she went missing while playing. Police recovered the body of the second-grade student near an irrigation canal around 1:30 p.m. and subsequently transferred it to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

The victim had gone missing on Friday afternoon, prompting her family to launch an exhaustive search among neighbors and relatives. When initial efforts failed to locate her, the family resorted to public announcements through local loudspeakers throughout the evening and night. The child, who attended a local kindergarten, remained missing until local farmers discovered her remains approximately 200 meters from her home while working in the fields on Saturday morning.
