Leaked Audio Sparks Controversy Over Ramganj BNP Leadership Amid Claims of Financial Influence

An audio recording capturing a heated conversation between two local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders in Lakshmipur has surfaced on social media, sparking controversy over party politics and internal disputes. The three-minute and twenty-five-second recording features Gias Uddin, also known as Palash, the general secretary of the Ramganj Municipality BNP, expressing outrage after he was not invited as the chief guest at a local school event.

During the conversation with Tawhid Hossain Maruf Bhuiyan, president of the Noyagaon Union BNP, Gias Uddin is heard berating the latter for excluding him from the guest list of a farewell ceremony for SSC candidates held months ago at Paniwala High School. In the recording, Gias Uddin questions his status within the party and references significant financial expenditure for his political position, claiming, “I am the elected secretary, I have spent 50 lakh taka.”

Tawhid Hossain Maruf Bhuiyan confirmed the authenticity of the recording, noting that the dispute occurred several months ago. He stated that the matter had been formally reported to senior party leadership at the time and was subsequently resolved, adding that Gias Uddin had apologized for the outburst. A senior party leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, corroborated that a meeting was held to mediate between the two sides, successfully settling the grievance.

Gias Uddin has dismissed the audio as a fabrication, alleging that artificial intelligence was used to create the recording to damage his social and political standing. He stated that he intends to discuss the matter with party officials to determine his next course of action.

The dispute stems from the organizational hierarchy within the Ramganj Municipality BNP. Gias Uddin was elected general secretary of the municipal unit during a party conference held on September 20, 2025, where Sheikh Kamrul Kamruzzaman was elected president. Despite the mediation efforts, the emergence of the audio has prompted renewed scrutiny of internal party dynamics in the region.
