Satkhira student Zarin Subah wins national primary education drawing competition after third attempt

Zarin Subah, a fifth-grade student from Satkhira, has secured first place in the art competition at the National Primary Education Medal ceremony. Her accomplishment marks the culmination of a persistent journey, overcoming consecutive setbacks to achieve national recognition.
A student at the Silver Jubilee Model Government Primary School in the Satkhira Sadar Upazila, Zarin moved to the district from the Alamdanga Upazila of Chuadanga several years ago due to her father Nazmul Alam’s employment. Her path to success was marked by two previous attempts where she was eliminated at the district level in 2024 and the following year. Despite the disappointment, Zarin maintained her focus, sought guidance from her teachers, and increased her practice sessions with the constant support of her parents.
Reflecting on her journey, Zarin expressed that while she initially felt discouraged by her past failures, the support from her family and educators motivated her to improve her technical skills. She noted that she was honored to receive the award directly from the Prime Minister.
Zarin’s interest in art began in early childhood, where she frequently used paper and notebooks to translate her imagination into sketches of village life, including landscapes, livestock, and rural activity. Her father, Nazmul Alam, expressed pride in his daughter’s dedication, noting that her success is a result of her own perseverance. He added that the family aims to see her grow into a well-rounded individual, as she excels in both academics and artistic pursuits.
The faculty and students at the Silver Jubilee Model Government Primary School have celebrated the victory, as Zarin was one of three students from the institution to compete at the national level. Headmistress Chaina Banerjee praised Zarin for her diligence and intelligence, attributing the school’s ongoing success in national competitions to the collaborative efforts of teachers, students, and guardians.
The school, which places significant emphasis on extracurricular activities, has a history of securing top placements in various national-level competitions. Zarin’s recent achievement adds to this record, highlighting the institution’s commitment to fostering both artistic and academic development.
