Jamaat MP blocked in Netrokona – car vandalized, complaint against BNP

Member of Parliament (MP) of Netrokona-5 (Poordhala) constituency Machum Mustafa was attacked, vandalized and blocked. The incident took place at Giripatha filling station in Atkapara area on the eastern side of Shyamganj-Birishiri road on Friday evening. Later, around 7:30 in the evening, the police came and rescued him. The MP claims that the attackers are local BNP leaders and workers.
Talking to some local residents, it is known that till five o’clock in the afternoon fuel is given to various vehicles at Giripatha filling station. Then it was closed. Around six in the evening, the MP went to the filling station in a private car. Later, the owner of the pump. Talk to Kamal. Then he went to pray in a room there. After some time, about 20 to 25 youths on about 15 motorcycles came to the pump and wanted to take oil for their motorcycles. At that time the youth created a ruckus there. At one point they vandalized Masum Mustafa’s car. At that time, when Masum Mustafa came out of the house after finishing the prayer, the angry youths chased him and blocked him.
A few policemen were on duty at the filling station at the time of the incident. They could not handle the situation. About half an hour after receiving the information, the Purbadhala police station rescued the MP from there. He was taken in a car sent by the Upazila Nirbahi officer.
Netrakona Police Superintendent. Tariqul Islam said that the police rescued the member of parliament as soon as he got the news. Efforts are underway to arrest those involved in the incident.
MP Masum Mostafa told Prothom Alo on the phone around 8:30 pm, “I went to buy oil at the pump. After that, about 20-25 people of BNP and its organizational leaders vandalized my car and attacked me and blocked it. At that time, when my workers-supporters came forward, they (the attackers) were also beaten. Now the police have rescued me. The matter has been discussed with the administration and senior officials including the Superintendent of Police. I will take legal action in this regard.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s candidate Masum Mustafa won 82 thousand 177 votes in the 13th National Assembly election. His closest competitor, Dhaner Sheesh, Purbadhala Upazila BNP president Abu Taher Talukder got 79,412 votes.
About the attack on the parliament member, Abu Taher Talukdar said on the phone, “I have heard about the attack on Masum Mustafa.” However, I do not know who did this incident. I can say that none of my party leaders have done this.
