Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Syed Md. Motahar Hossain recalled to Armed Forces division

Brigadier General Syed Md. Motahar Hossain is returning to the Armed Forces Division following an order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday. The directive mandates that his services be placed under the authority of the Armed Forces Division, marking the conclusion of his tenure as the Inspector General of Prisons.

Brigadier General Hossain assumed the role of Inspector General of Prisons on August 11, 2024. According to sources within the Department of Prisons, the reassignment is considered a routine administrative procedure. He served in the position for approximately two years.

Government sources have confirmed that following his departure from the prison administration, Brigadier General Hossain is slated to take on a new role as the Defense Advisor at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York. The government has already approved his appointment to this international posting.
