Human chain in the district to demand the safety of children and women and the punishment of rapists and oppressors

Due to the culture of impunity and long delay in the prosecution of rape cases, rape cases are happening all over the country. You have to come out of this. All rapists and oppressors, including the incident of rape and murder of a child in the capital’s Pallavi, must be brought to justice. Otherwise, women and children will not be safe in this country.
The speakers said this in a human chain organized in Brahmanbaria demanding the safety of children and women and quick and exemplary punishment of the rapists-oppressors. The Brahmanbaria Bandhu Sabha organized this human bond in front of the Brahmanbaria Press Club at around four o’clock this Friday. Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha initiated human chain today in different districts of the country for the same demand. People from different classes and professions participated in these programs and demanded exemplary punishment for all rapists and oppressors, including the recent rape and murder of a child in Pallavi of the capital.

Loopholes in state laws and slow justice have made recurrence of such brutal incidents a regular occurrence.

Sarwar Murshed, a teacher in Manabbandhan, said, ‘We are losing confidence in this state system and structure. We cannot dream about Bangladesh. Dreaming is becoming difficult. Society as a whole is rotten. Children are being tortured and killed like flowers. I am shocked, depressed. We are constantly sinking into darkness. There is no light before us. We do not want to see this Bangladesh.
