According to the family, the police called Ashraful Islam from his house last Saturday night and arrested him. He was sent to court in the Mohan Sheikh murder case on Sunday afternoon. He is currently in the district jail.

Speakers in the human chain said that Mohan Sheikh (70) was killed on April 23 due to a conflict between the supporters of upazila BNP president Abul Hossain and the joint general secretary of the district Jubodal Abu Zahid Chowdhury over the expansion of dominance in Madhavpur village of Manoharpur union of Shailkupa upazila. The deceased was a supporter of Mohan Sheikh Abu Zahid Chowdhury. Arrested Ashraful Islam was also a supporter of the same party and was vocal in demanding justice after the murder.

Meanwhile, Haroon Or Rashid, the plaintiff in the Mohan Sheikh murder case, said that he did not get any information about Ashraful Islam’s involvement. For this reason, he gave a written affidavit to the court today through the lawyer.

Shailkupa police station OC Humayun Kabir Mollah was tried several times to get a statement on the matter, but no response was received from him.
