Government Bans Prime Ministers Image on Official Event Banners and Billboards

The Bangladeshi government has issued a formal directive strictly prohibiting the use of the Prime Minister’s photograph on banners, festoons, and billboards used for official state events. This policy shift mandates that promotional materials for government programs must henceforth prioritize the event’s specific objectives, core messages, and thematic content rather than featuring political imagery.

According to a circular issued by the Cabinet Division on Sunday, the new regulation applies to all government ministries, departments, and field-level offices. The directive, signed by Deputy Secretary Tania Afroze, explicitly bans the use of the Prime Minister’s image in any format, including three-dimensional renderings, on official promotional signage.

Under the revised guidelines, agencies are instructed to ensure that the design of any campaign material clearly reflects the purpose and subject matter of the event. Officials have been tasked with ensuring that all promotional content is strictly relevant and informative, emphasizing that the event’s primary message must remain the focal point of all visual communications.

The Cabinet Division has requested that all relevant authorities treat this matter with the highest level of priority, calling for immediate and full implementation of the directive across all levels of administration.
