Chief Prosecutor’s office discusses evidence in Shapla murder case, MD of Islamic TV

Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal. Islamic TV Managing Director (MD) Shams Eskander met with Aminul Islam. He said that in May 2013, he will testify in the case of crimes against humanity committed in Shapla Chatwar of Motijheel in the capital.

After meeting the chief prosecutor on Monday afternoon, Shams Eskander answered various questions of the journalists in the tribunal premises. He is the cousin of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman. His father is late Saeed Eskander, a former Member of Parliament of BNP.

The International Criminal Tribunal for the murder of the Hefazet Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel on May 5, 2013 will be tried at the International Criminal Tribunal. The managing director of Islamic TV went to meet the chief prosecutor while the investigation of the case was going on in the tribunal.

Shams Eskander told reporters that he had come to talk to the chief prosecutor about the Shapla Chattar incident. They were called to find out what happened that day.

Journalists of Islamic TV were present when the Hefjat rally at Shapla Square was broken up by the security forces.

Shams Eskander said that the members of RAB and various forces of the government went and destroyed their office that night. Their broadcasting equipment, computers, editing panels and offices were ransacked. On that day, the broadcast of Islamic TV was stopped. The chief prosecutor wants to know what they have to say about these issues. They have been asked to protect whatever signs they have. Because, they will be useful for investigation.

The journalist asked again, “Are you a witness?” What has the prosecution said for your… witness?’

Then Shams Eskander said, “That said, the prosecution will contact us.”

Among the journalists, the former managing director of Ekatar TV Mozammel Haque Babu and the former chief reporter of Ekatar Television Farzana Rupa have been arrested in this case of crimes against humanity committed in connection with the murders surrounding the Hefazet Islam rally at Shapla Chattar.

Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former Education Minister Dipu Moni, former Minister of State for Home Shamsul Haque, Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, Hasan Mahmud Khandkar and Benazir Ahmed, Gana Jagran Manch spokesperson Imran H Sarkar, former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Molya Nazrul Islam and others are accused in this case.
