‘Gorimsi’, OC transferred to take case in case of killing of BNP leader in Araihajar

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station Md. Alauddin has been transferred. He has been transferred to the Detective Branch (DSB) of the District Police.
Sabzel Hossain has been given the responsibility of the new OC of Araihajar police station. He was working as Inspector of DSB. New OC joined this Sunday morning. However, the police administration has not officially said anything about the reason for this transfer.

Earlier, there was an allegation against the police that Garimsi and the accused were pressured to drop the name of the accused in the murder case of Osman Gani, general secretary of Brahmandi Union BNP of Araihajar upazila. The family members of the deceased Osman Gani complained that they were being pressured by the police station to drop the names of those whom they wanted to include as suspects in the case. Osman Gani was hacked to death due to a dispute over land cutting in Panchgaon Charpara Bill of Panchgaon Charpara Bill of Araihajar Upazila around one in the morning last Thursday. After the incident, tension spread in the area. Relatives, supporters and local residents of the deceased Osman Gani blocked the Araihajar-Gauchia road for several hours from dawn to 11:00 that day. During this time two motorcycles were set on fire and some vehicles were vandalized.
The police arrested six people, including member secretary of Duptara Union Volunteers, Ramzan Ali, on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Later, when they were sent to the court showing their arrest under section 54, the court ordered them to be sent to jail.
