Four Gazipur land office employees suspended over corruption and negligence charges

Gazipur District Administrator Nurul Karim Bhuiyan suspended four officials and employees of the Kashimpur Union Land Office on Monday following a surprise inspection that revealed widespread administrative negligence and the illicit involvement of middlemen in government operations.
The suspended personnel include Assistant Land Officer Wazed Ali Khan, alongside office assistants Shafiqul Islam, Muhammad Mostafa Kamal, and Tapash Chandra Shil. The disciplinary action, which includes the initiation of formal departmental proceedings, follows a series of reports regarding systemic irregularities and poor service delivery across various union land offices in the district.
During the unannounced inspection, conducted alongside Additional District Administrator Sohel Rana and other senior local officials, authorities discovered that official land administration tasks were being outsourced to unauthorized third parties. Investigators also confirmed long-standing allegations of negligence, noting that service seekers were frequently denied proper assistance.
District Administrator Bhuiyan stated that the staff members failed to justify their official conduct or produce mandatory documentation when questioned during the visit. He further noted that the employees were unable to demonstrate proficiency in using the government’s digital mutation software, rendering them unfit for their positions. Following the disciplinary measures at the Kashimpur office, the district administration has extended its oversight to other local land offices to ensure compliance with service protocols.
