Festival Art Academy in the rhythm of dance

The atmosphere of Shilpakala Academy of the capital has become festive with the rhythm of dance and music. Wednesday, April 29 is World Dance Day. On this occasion, a two-day dance performance has started in the main auditorium of National Theater organized by Shilpakala Academy’s music, dance and recitation department from Tuesday. More than six hundred artists from more than one hundred dance organizations of the country are participating in this event.
This year the theme of World Dance Day is ‘Unity, Creativity and Inclusion’. Apart from Shilpakala Academy, Bangladesh Dancers Association and Dancers Foundation also organized separate programs on the occasion of World Dance Day.
The two-day dance program of Shilpakala Academy started with a colorful procession of dancers from the front of the dance hall building of the academy at 5 pm on Tuesday. Advisor to the Prime Minister on Policy and Strategy (Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and Culture) Zaheed Ur Rahman was the chief guest on the first day of the programme. The keynote speaker was Ekushey medalist dance researcher and dance director Amanul Haque. Culture Secretary Kaniz Mawla presided. Rezauddin Stalin, director general of the academy gave a welcome speech. Secretary of the academy Mohammad Zakir Hossain thanked.
Chief guest Zahedur Rahman said that dance has physical utility as well as cultural importance. Now children mostly lead a physically inactive life with studies, social media etc. It makes them suffer from various physical problems. It can be healthy for them if they practice dancing.
Chief negotiator Amanul Haque highlighted the importance of International Dance Day and said that Dance Day is not generally celebrated in Bangladesh on a large scale. This celebration of Shilpakala Academy is good. He expressed hope that this initiative will continue.
After the opening ceremony, the dancers of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy started the dance performance of the first day with ‘Tora sab jaidhvani kar’. Fifa Chakma directed the dance. After that the dance artists performed a dance with the song ‘Eki Aparup Rupe Ma Tome…’ under the direction of Benazir Salam. Nrityalok Cultural Center performed dance with the song ‘Mora Jhanjha’ under the direction of Kabirul Islam Ratan. Under the guidance of Arif Hossain, the artists of Satvik Shilpashram performed dances with the songs ‘Mastkalandar’ and ‘Man Amar Dehghadi’.
Dance studio artists performed dance to the song ‘Tomay Aami Paite Pari’, dance was directed by Nazmul Haque. Sadhana performed contemporary dance ‘Changing Dreams’, choreographed by Sabbir Ahmed Khan. Chandsik danced to the song ‘Eso Priya Mon Rangaye’ directed by Saiful Islam. The artistes of Rewaz Performers School performed ‘Japanese and Russian folk dance’ under the direction of Munmun Ahmed.
On the first day, more dances were performed by Nupurdhvani, Gurukul Cultural Centre, Kathyakia The Center of Arts, Anjali Nrityangan Academy, Nrityakalpa, Akriti Nritya Dal, Colors of Hill, Jhangar Lalitkala Academy, Dhrupadi Dance Company, Naeem Khan Dance Company, Nandnik Nritya Sangathan, Jinya Nrityakala Academy, Bhangima Dance Theatre, Dev Dance. Artists from various dance organizations including academies.
Today’s program: Today Wednesday, the closing day program will start at 5 pm. Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Minister of the Ministry of Culture will be the chief guest. On the concluding day, the artistes of 23 groups will perform dances in the auditorium of the National Theater.
