Edible oil prices not rising: Commerce Minister

He said, we sit regularly with edible oil. This is a sensitive product. If its price increases, the buyers are unhappy. That is why we review the country’s oil supply situation, import at regular intervals. However, nothing has been said about increasing the price in this meeting.

Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Banaspati Manufacturers Association has proposed to increase the price of edible oil from Thursday (April 9). They made this proposal in a letter sent to the Ministry of Commerce a few days ago.

The Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC) scrutinized the proposal and took the final decision not to increase the price.

Meanwhile, in the two rounds of meetings held today, discussions were held on providing some additional benefits to the country’s oil suppliers to adjust their profits without increasing prices. However, what kind of benefits will be given has not been finalized.
