Chittagong admitted 19 children with measles symptoms in one day

19 more children were admitted with measles symptoms in Chittagong city in one day. This information was informed by Chittagong District Civil Surgeon office on Sunday (April 12). 

15 children recovered and returned home on the same day. At present, the number of patients under treatment in the hospital is 84.  All the admitted children are residents of the city. However, since no report came from Dhaka, the Civil Surgeon’s office could not report any new measles cases on this day.

Meanwhile, the number of measles cases in Chittagong city and upazila has reached 35 people. Among them 24 people in the city and 11 people in the upazila. Last Saturday, measles was detected in the body of a child in the upazila.

According to sources in the Civil Surgeon’s office, on Sunday, 23 new samples were collected and sent to the National Polio and Measles Laboratory in Dhaka. A total of 328 samples have been sent from Chittagong. Among them, there are 213 people from the city and 115 people from the upazila.

Chittagong District Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam said, 19 children were admitted to the hospital with measles symptoms in one day in Chittagong. They are all city dwellers. So far the number of children affected by measles is 35. Currently 84 people are hospitalized with symptoms. They are being given necessary treatment.
