A case was registered in Rajshahi on Tuesday night in connection with the looting of a truck led by BNP leader. Businessman md. Ferdous Sardar (26) filed the case as the plaintiff.

Earlier on May 6, 300 sacks of cumin were looted from Ferdous, a wholesaler in Pabna, in Arani Paur area of ​​Bagha Upazila. In this incident, the victim businessman made a written complaint to Bagha police station; But the case was put on hold because of the settlement. Finally, the businessman filed a case at Bagha police station on Tuesday night. The officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station said that a case has been registered.

Businessman Ferdous is a resident of Char Chinakhara village of Sujanagar police station in Pabna. Businessman Ferdous said, the main accused in the case is the former joint convener of BNP in Adani town of Bagha upazila. Sujat Ahmed (55). Other defendants in the case are his brother. Jahangir Hossain (45), nephew. Sweet (25) and Md. Shanta (28). Sujat Ahmed’s house is in Jotarghu Mahalla of Arani Town area. His two nephews’ house is in Palpara area of ​​Arani municipality.

Ferdous Sardar is an import businessman. He buys imported goods from different countries and sells them wholesale in different parts of the country. According to this source, he was introduced to a businessman named Sinarul Islam (33) of Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. Accused Sweet and Shanto arranged to buy 300 sacks (9 thousand kg) of cumin seeds through Sinarul Islam. On May 6 around four in the morning a truck was sent from Pabna with cumin seeds to Adani. It contained a total of 9,000 kg of cumin at 30 kg per bag. The price of cumin is Tk 49 lakh 50 thousand as Tk 550 per kg. When the truck arrived at Puthia in Rajshahi, middleman businessman Sinarul Islam boarded the truck. The truck reached Adani around eight in the morning. They want to unload 150 sacks of cumin in a warehouse and the remaining cumin in the warehouse of Sujat Ahmed. When Sinarul Islam asked for money before unloading the goods, they gave a blank check signed by Pubali Bank. Then 150 sacks of cumin seeds were deposited in the vat and the remaining 150 sacks were deposited in the warehouse adjacent to Sujat Ahmed’s house. The boat left for Lalpur in Natore with 150 sacks of cumin seeds. Then when Sinarul asked for money, they showed him Tk 25 lakh in a marketed plastic bag; But he was not given that money. He assured that the remaining Tk 24,500,000 will be available only after depositing the check after opening the bank.

Sinarul told Prothom Alo that he sent the truck driver’s assistant to make a video of the cumin sack in the warehouse to keep the evidence. The assistant went and saw that all the cumin seeds had been removed in just two hours. When he opened the bank, he secretly went and saw that there was no money in the bank against the cheque. After asking them for money, they kept delaying. On that day around three o’clock in the afternoon, about one and a half kilometers away from Arani Bazar, they took the bank check given to Sinarul Islam with a knife and took it behind a tea shop. Ferdous Sardar, the main owner of Zeera, lodged a complaint at Bagha police station. The police searched for it all day but could not recover the cumin.

Later, Arani Municipal BNP President Tozammel Haque took responsibility and recovered 110 sacks of cumin around 10 pm. A settlement was reached between the two parties that the remaining price of cumin would be paid after two days last Sunday. The victims go to Adani and sit all day on Sunday; But none of them were found. Tozammel Haque searched two more places and recovered 65 sacks of cumin. There is no trace of the remaining cumin or money.

BNP leader Tozammel Haque told Prothom Alo that he tried his best to recover 175 sacks of cumin seeds. The victim then asked the businessman to take legal recourse. Sujat was found on the phone last Friday. He then said, his nephews bought cumin. It has been resolved. He could not be contacted after that.
