Cabinet committee formed to raise electricity prices

Bangladesh’s electricity consumption has increased due to the global energy instability in the war situation in the Middle East. To deal with this pressure, the government has taken the initiative to adjust the price of electricity. A high-level cabinet committee convened by the finance minister was formed on April 9. Power, Energy and Commerce Ministers along with concerned secretaries are its members. The committee will make recommendations to the Cabinet regarding adjustment of wholesale and retail rates. Cab M Shamsul Alam said that it is not right to increase the price due to the shortage caused by looting and additional costs.
