Bogra Woman Murdered on Eid; Husband in Custody

A 23-year-old woman was hacked to death in Bogra’s Sariakandi upazila on Thursday morning, allegedly by her husband, following a heated dispute that erupted immediately after Eid-ul-Adha prayers.
The victim, Mimi Begum, was killed at her home in Ganakpara village within the Narchi Union. According to local residents, her husband, 30-year-old Rubel Mia, attacked her with a sharp axe after returning from the Eid congregation. The couple, who had been married for several years, shared a two-year-old child and had reportedly been struggling with persistent domestic discord for a significant period.
Witnesses at the scene intervened following the assault, detaining Rubel Mia before handing him over to local authorities. The victim’s mother, Goleza Begum, confirmed that long-standing marital tensions had served as a precursor to the fatal attack.
Police recovered the victim’s body from the scene and transported it to the morgue at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College for a post-mortem examination. Sariakandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge AFM Asaduzzaman stated that the suspect remains in custody and preparations are underway to formally register a murder case against him.
