BOGURA, Bangladesh – Police in Bogura have arrested three young men following the alleged gang-rape of a young married woman late Sunday night in a construction site in the city. The victim filed a case against five individuals on Monday afternoon, shortly after being sent for a medical examination.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 19-year-olds Kawser, Badhon, and Rocky, all from Bogura Sadar upazila. Police continue to search for the remaining two alleged perpetrators.
According to Ibrahim Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station, the victim was sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for a health examination after reporting the incident.
Police stated that the young woman, who hails from Shibganj upazila, had a prior acquaintance and friendship with the accused individuals. The incident unfolded after she met Kawser, Badhon, Sadiq, and another person at a city shop around 8 p.m. on Sunday. The group then decided to consume alcohol, purchasing it from a local hotel bar before heading to a half-finished building at approximately 10:30 p.m. A fifth individual subsequently joined them.
The victim alleges that during the drinking session, the accused men collectively raped her. Following the assault, Badhon reportedly escorted her to another location, where she managed to call for help from locals by shouting. Badhon then fled the scene.
