Bogra City Corporation is the approval of five new upazilas in the country

The ‘National Implementation Committee on Administrative Restructuring’ (NICAR) has approved the proposal to form five new upazilas including Bogra City Corporation. This decision was taken at the 120th meeting of NICAR under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday afternoon. Currently there are 11 City Corporations in the country. Bogra will have 12 City Corporations.

The new upazilas are ‘Mokamtala’ by dividing Shibganj upazila of Bogra, ‘Matamuhuri’ by dividing Chakria upazila of Cox’s Bazar, ‘Ruhia’ and ‘Bhulli’ by dividing Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon and ‘Chandraganj’ upazila by dividing Sadar upazila of Laxmipur.
There are currently 495 upazilas in the country. With these five new upazilas, the number will be 500.
