BNP leader’s case against 37 people including District Youth Dal

BNP leader Mohammad Hossain Khoka, the father of the youth who was shot, has filed a case as a plaintiff in the incident of shootings in Fatulla, Narayanganj. 37 people including Moshiur Rahman Roni, member secretary of the district youth party, were accused in the case. Among them, 12 people are named and 25 people are shown as unknown.

Fatulla filed the case at Model Police Station on Sunday afternoon.

Apart from Roni, the other accused named in the case are Enayatnagar Union Youth Dal volunteer affairs secretary Sarjeel Ahmed Abhi (30), Awami League leader Abdul Hamid Pradhan (52), Abdus Salam (40), Akash (28), Suman Molla Rocket (43), Khairul Kabir Jasim (55), Yasin (28), Ali Ratan (38), Murad Hasan. (38), Adnan Aziz Margh (32) and Pallab (45).

In the statement of Hossain Khoka, it is mentioned that his son Rakibul Hasan Rakib (23) was doing brick-sand business in the area along with his studies. A dispute between various parties was going on for several days regarding the unloading of Westiz goods at a garment company called Best Style Composite Limited located in Chandni housing area.

On April 9, at around 10 am, the plaintiff went to the spot after receiving information that people had gathered in front of the garment. At this time at 10:30 in the morning, the accused ganged up with indigenous weapons including firearms, chapati, ramda, dagger, knife, iron rod, wooden stick and cocktail and surrounded him and dragged him out and beat him up.

The complaint further states that some of the accused threatened him with pistols and at one stage tried to beat him to death with a chapati.

At that time, when the situation became heated, the accused fired indiscriminately and detonated cocktails, causing extreme panic in the area.

When his son Rakibul Hasan Rakib rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the attack on his father, shots were fired at him. He fell to the ground when the bullet pierced the right side of his chest. Later, with the help of locals, he was rescued and first taken to Khanpur 300-bed hospital in Narayanganj. From there he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He is currently undergoing treatment there and his condition is said to be critical.

A madrasa student named Imran (13), a passerby, was also shot in this incident. He was treated by his relatives.

The affidavit further states that the accused, unable to unload the Westies goods from the garment, fired shots and fired cocktails to create terror in the area and intimidate the owners. After the incident, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Narayanganj District Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Tarek Al Mehdi said, one party has filed a case and the other party has also filed a complaint. We are continuing to try to nab the main culprits through various investigations. Also, the operation to recover the weapons is going on.
